Found Sound Nation is a leader in designing and organizing collaborative global exchange programs, both throughout the U.S. and abroad. INSERT PHILOSOPHY Beginning in 2012, FSN partnered with the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs to establish OneBeat, a groundbreaking international music residency and festival. After nearly a decade, FSN has organized over 200 events in 34 U.S. cities and organized projects throughout Europe, Asia and South America. All our programs are committed using music’s special power to tie together disparate communities, retrace our common histories, affirm our common humanity, and reimagine a world based on the principles of collaboration, empathy, and creativity.

OneBeat

OneBeat is the gathering place for the musical leaders of the 21st century. Launched in 2012, OneBeat began as an annual U.S-based residency and tour program that brings early-career musicians together from around the globe to collaboratively write, produce and perform original music, and develop strategies for arts-based civic and social engagement. Since then, OneBeat has grown into a constellation of programs in production around the globe.

OneBeat provides a chance for musicians and artists from an incredible diversity of backgrounds to seek common ground, create new musical combinations, push the boundaries of music technology, and find ways to involve all members of society in the process of musical creativity. Produced and designed by the NYC-based arts organization Found Sound Nation, OneBeat endeavors to be the nexus of a new way of thinking about how music and artistic expression can help us collectively build healthier communities, prosperous societies, and a more peaceful world.

Dosti

The Dosti Music Project brought together a group of musicians from Pakistan, India, and the U.S. for a month-long residency and tour in 2015 and 2016. An initiative of the U.S. Embassy in Pakistan, produced by Bang on a Can’s Found Sound Nation, Dosti invited a group of Pakistani, Indian, and U.S. musicians from a wide variety of traditions, ranging from Sufi singing to beatmaking to avant garde jazz, to collaboratively write, record, and perform original music, reinvent traditional music, and develop impactful initiatives aimed at local and international communities. Dosti, which means friendship in both Urdu and Hindi, seeks to transcend political and cultural barriers through cross-cultural musical collaboration. In 2017, Found Sound Nation released Travelers: Dosti Music Project, a compilation of 12 tracks and accompanying music videos from the first two years of Dosti.

Found Sound X emerged from our continued collaborations with artists all over the world. In partnership with local musicians and organizations we’ve hosted Found Sound X projects in China, Mexico, Haiti and more.
